Problems for Peruvian Children:
- poverty: over 50% of the children 0 to 11 years old live in poverty
- chronic malnutrition: about 30% of the children are affected by chronic malnutrition
- low attainment of education: 25% of the children are involved in economic labor
- a large percentage of children do not continue onto secondary school
- children are not learning at expected education levels completion & quality are issues in education
Government of Peru Involvement:
- the government is striving for higher enrollment in primary education
- the government is working to enhance existing programs in nutrition, health, & education
